Rachel Kinney
Rachel Kinney '09 earned the Salbi Commencement Award for Leadership and Advocacy, named after Zainab Salbi, the 2009 Commencement Speaker. The award recognized her work for women's rights, specifically her work with the Houston Area Women's Center, undertaken in part through the CSWGS Seminar and Practicum.
Her Practicum project, "What Factors Encourage Sexual Assault Victims to Seek Help?: An Engaged Research project at the Houston Area Women's Center" was the result of a collaborative process between Rachel, then a Senior at Wiess, and the Houston Area Women's Center. Rachel's project was one of eight studies undertaken in the inaugural year of the CSWGS Seminar and Practicum.
